I have just returned from a productive stay at COP29 in Baku, marking my fifth participation in the climate conferences. This year was particularly engaging as I had the opportunity to contribute to discussions across multiple pavilions, sharing insights and learning from global peers.

Japan Pavilion: At the Japan Pavilion, I highlighted the innovative strides Japan has made towards climate adaptation. I focused on how Japanese technological prowess, particularly in AI and robotics, can address the pressing needs of climate change. The discussions revolved around how these technologies can enhance resilience, predict climate events more accurately, and devise adaptive strategies that are both effective and sustainable.

Malaysia Pavilion: In the Malaysian Pavilion, our talks centered on adaptation strategies and the critical funding needs within the ASEAN region. I shared my insights on the best available scenarios and practices in sustainability, finance, and carbon management. This discussion aimed at enhancing our collective ability to adapt to climate challenges in a way that is both environmentally sound and economically viable for the diverse ASEAN countries.

Kazakhstan Pavilion: I was happy to speak at a seminar in the Kazakhstan Pavilion where I presented concepts from Japanese smart cities. This session was a platform to discuss how urban planning and technology integration could lead to more sustainable and resilient urban environments. The exchange was rich with ideas on how these models could be adapted to fit the unique contexts of Central Asian urban landscapes.

Overall, my stay at COP29 was a very fruitful experience. The event was a vibrant hub for thought-provoking talks and strategic meetings, reinforcing my commitment to sustainable development and the global exchange of knowledge and practices. The collaboration and networking opportunities have set the stage for future initiatives that I hope will contribute meaningfully to further actions.
