I had the privilege of participating in the Fifth Global Pandemic Network Conference “One Health: international, supranational, regional and national experiences”.
This significant event brought together experts from various fields to discuss the integration of environmental, human, and animal health strategies. Hosted across three prestigious Italian universities — Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Macerata, and the University of Urbino Carlo Bo — the Conference provided a platform for interesting discussions and thought-provoking presentations.
During the Conference, I actively participated in two key events:
Macerata Chapter (May 13): I delivered a presentation titled “Artificial Intelligence and Pandemic Response: Balancing Innovation with Regulation”. In this talk, I explored the balance between leveraging AI advancements for pandemic management while ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance. The intersection of innovation and regulation is crucial, especially in the context of health crises. In my presentation, I proposed an idea for a balanced regulatory regime — one that fosters innovation while safeguarding public health. Recent developments in artificial intelligence play a pivotal role in pandemic response, and we must navigate this landscape carefully. Additionally, I shared outcomes from research conducted in Japan under the Moonshot framework.

Urbino Chapter (May 14): I had the honour of chairing a panel discussion. We delved into global regulatory issues related to the One Health concept. Our conversations spanned topics such as environmental impact, climate change, and sustainability. It was wonderful to facilitate a discussion of experts from diverse backgrounds come together to address these critical challenges.
